Imphal, August 3: Vision Foundation Manipur highlights the various anomalies being underway in the administration of Regional Institute of Medical Science (RIMS). In a press release, the organization stated that the RIMS administration has misappropriated huge amount of money for repairing and renovation of the 8 operation theatres of the Institute. The organization stated that – of the eight operation theatre four important operation theatre including OBS and Gynae, emergency and general Surgery were not repaired even though amount for the renovation has been already sanction. The organization quoted a source saying that amount misappropriated by the administrative authority of RIMS is in terms of crores of rupees.The organization further stated that the RIMS authority had also appointed 101 nurses in the year 2012-13. Out of these nurses 30 were appointed without following the formalities for appointment, it added. The statement also charged the RIMS authority of bribing around rupees 15 to 20 lacs per candidate for appointment to the post.The organization further said that the RIMS authority has been cheating the general public of the state by appointing several staffs in back door. It said when the nurses of the Institute were on strike during June 2014, the RIMS director had appointed 100 nurses on voluntary basis. And these nurses appointed by the RIMS authority has now been treated as regular staffs and were on process for regularization of their post.RIMS has now a total of around 20 super specialists doctors. However, the institute has not properly utilized the doctors by not providing them adequate facilities. They are not provided OPD, Wards and Operation Theatre besides, opening of their department.The organization also blames the RIMS Director Shekharjit and his wife Damyanti for managing the RIMS administration as their private kitchen. It said Shekharjit had appointed his wife Damyanti as principal in charge for Nursing College, later she was appointed as the in charge of Dental College and later tried to appoint her as the medical superintendent by hiding the original appointment order of the MS from the concern ministry. The matter was even discussed in the state assembly session, the organization added.The organization further added that people of the state need to teach a lesson to the Director of RIMS Shekharjit and his wife Damyanti for saving the image of RIMS.
