Sit-in-protest stage at various places in demand of ILP

Imphal July 27: Womenfolk of the state under the aegis of Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System today staged sit-in-protest in various places in demand implementation of Inner Line Permit System in the state as soon as possible and to punish the police personnel who involved in the brutal assault of students who took part in the agitation of ILP.

As a part of it women vendors of Ima Panthoibi Sana Keithel Temporary Market staged sit-in-protest at BT Road. President of the women vendors of the temporary market, Ph. Liklaileima said that the issue of ILP should be discussed in the ongoing session of state Assembly.

She also demanded unconditional release of those who had been arrested by police in connection with the agitation of ILP. “Why is the state government not ready to implement ILP in the state when it is implemented in many states including Arunachal Pradesh?” she asked.

Womenfolk of Kwakeithel, Sega Lambi Thoudabhabok Leikai, Takhellambam Leikai, Uripok and many other places also took part in the protest in demand of implementation of ILP in the state. It may be mentioned that the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System had already called 18 hours’ state-wide general strike with effect from the midnight of 25 till the 6pm of 26 protesting the brutal attitude of the police personnel against the students who took part in the agitation of ILP. However, the state government is still maintaining its silence till now.
