Imphal, July 27: ACOAM-Lup Kangleipak today observed Integrity Protection Day at JN Manipur Dance Academy in co-ordination with various Social and Academic Activities.

The day is observed in commemoration to the union government decision to drop the three words – “without territorial limit” from the Bangkok declaration between the government of India and NSCN-IM.

It may be mentioned that Manipur was set into flames following mass protest by the people against the cease fire agreement between the government of Manipur and the NSCN-IM without territorial limits. Following the signing of the agreement on June 14, 2001 people of the state uprises amounting to the death of 18 precious lives. The state assembly was burn by the rage of the people. As a result of the protest the word ‘without territorial limit’ was removed from the agreement on July 27. Remembering the day as an important part in the history of Manipur ACOAM-Lup has been observing the day as ‘Integrity Day,’ said Sanjit Saroisam, Secretary General, ACOAM-Lup in his key note address.

Attending the observance as invitees, Y. Nabachandra, President, UCM said that even though the cease fire agreement is not effective in the state we can’t assure safety of the territorial integrity. It is now open secret that there are designated camps of NSCN (IM) in Ukhrul, he added. Nabachandra further said that the delegates of Legislative Assembly did not discuss the issue of ILP but they discuss over a comment made by a human right activist.

Leirikleima, President, Kanglamei and Maibam Nilachandra, Advocate, former General Secretary and Vice President, AMBA attended the observance as Presidium members.
