Fearing unwanted consequences, villagers of the most affected Kabui Khullen part I in the recent drastic tremor was compelled to shift to a safer place.
BT Luliangmang, Customary Court Judge of the village expressed his sorrow and pains face by them due to the unfortunate situation that forced them to leave their beloved place which was once named by King Khagemba himself during 14 Century B.C.
Luliangmang shared this to a team of Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System, Manipur who visited the place with relief materials yesterday.
During the visit, BT Athon, Village Chairman informed the team that the tremor had cracked the Earth crust 30 Km long deep and there is crack of over a kilometer long on earth surface. He said villagers are frightened as the portion might falls any time.
Informing media about the horrible road condition, he said since the 30 km long road connecting Noney sub division has no provision for motor vehicle transport, villagers including small children had to walk down all the way.
The drastic tremor which jolted on January 4 left the village a deserted look as the villagers sheltered at the relief camps.
Currently over 300 victims are taking shelter in 2 relief camps open there.
The tremor has damaged over 1000 houses in the Tamenglong district.
