Imphal, July 17: The recent development in Ukhrul town after the police crackdown of NSCN-IM technical head quarter at Ukhrul district and the Naga civil bodies retaliation to the state government action was today brought to the notice of the ongoing state assemble session. The matter was moved during zero hour by MLA Biren, however as the issue was considered of immediate public importance, Home Minister Gaikhangam clarified on the matter. He said imposition of CrPC 144 in Ukhrul district was for the safety of the general people and there was no militarization process as it was common on the deployment of police personnel in any region of the state. As for the deployment of additional force Gaikhangam said that as the state police force lacks manpower some of the police from other district had to be reinforced. He cautioned some of the Naga bodies appealing them to stop from spreading rumours about the incident which might spark tension among the people of the state.
