Union Home Minister of state, Kiran Rijiju, during his few hours visit to Manipur has said that central government have nothing to do with the present agitation in the state demanding implementation of inner line permit system, unless the central government received a concrete proposal from the government of Manipur.
“Unless we get a concrete proposal from the state government nothing can be done”, said Kiran Rijiju while replying to reporters’ query at Imphal Tulihal Airport today morning.
Throwing the ball to the state government regarding the ongoing protest, the Home Minister said that the state government can implement their own legislation for the convenience of administration within the ambit of the state government. However, if the legislation overlaps with the central government than the central government have to look over it.
Rijiju also reacted to the recent remark made by Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh for abolishing of the Inner Line Permit System from all the states of India. The Union Minister of State said that there are various laws in India still in use after independence. The uniqueness of the various communities needs to be look after.
Regarding the mass agitation Rijiju said that it is the democratic rights of the people to protest. He said if the illegal migrants are threats to the people then he would look forwards for certain internal mechanism to strengthen the existing system to control the influx.
