JCILPS Students Wing 48-hours general freezes Imphal

“Protestors demand Ibobi to speak out on ILP issue”

Road block, mass rally, sit-in-protests were held in support of the 48-hour-long general strike called by JCILPS Students Wing against the state government’s delaying tactic to implement Inner Line Permit System in the state.
Various general strike supporters blocked roads while disrupting vehicular traffic across the city. Khwairamband Keithel wore a deserted look and banks, government offices and commercial establishments remain closed during the strike.
Meanwhile, pro- ILP protestors demanded the Chief Minister of Manipur, Okram Ibobi Singh to speak out instead of keeping the people at confusion.
Heisnam (O) Sumati, former President of Keishamthong Thangjam Leirak Panthoibi Meirapaibi Marup told Imphal Times at the sideline of a sit-in-protest held today at Keishamthong Thangjam Leirak that people of Manipur have been agitating against the government to implement a permit system for non-locals. However, the CM and his cabinet is not willing to do for the betterment of the people.
His suspicious attitude towards the movement is going to cost a lot in future, she added.
“We want a solution to the issue. Now it’s time for CM to speak out what is inside his mind,” Sumati said.
While President of Khagempali Nambul Mapal Womens Association, Chirom Birohini demanded the state government to punish the police officer who attacked girl students by pulling at hair during an agitation.
She also urged the home department to control the aggressiveness towards the protestors during the ongoing mass movement for implementation of ILPS.
The protestors also demanded to punish the police personnel who killed Sapam Robinhood.
Various women bodies staged sit-in-protest across the city. Khagempali Panthak Pantha Apunba Meira Paibi Lup; Kwakeithel Akham Leirak Nupi Marup; Women organizations of Tiddim Road and others also held protest demonstrations.
