The SMILE programme in Manipur initially was an alternate Education Programme for the youth on social and political realities and developmental issues, but the component of increasing opportunities for youth employability has been added from the second phase.
“I worked as a daily wage labourer and strived hard to make a decent living. I have had an opportunity to enhance my skill in a training programme organised by IGSSS at Diputy Commisioner Conference Hall, Churachandpur. The timings were flexible and I could attend the classes conveniently. My hard work paid off when I was selected by the Social Welfare Department , Churachandpur as a potential worker for
Anganwadi Worker” said Mrs Muanching from Singngat Assembly Constituency.
In Churachandpur, IGSSS mobilised the youth for employment and self employment through interface with relevant stakeholders.
