Tombisana High School Management Committee opposes construction of market shed at the School premises

Tombisana High School Managing Committee has strongly objected the abolition of Tombisana High School and construction of Market shed at the school premises without the consent of the school management committee.
Secretary of the Tombisana High School Management Committee Ph. Ibochouba said that a case has been pending in the Manipur High Court over the acquisition of the land plot allotted for the Tombisana High School since the last 6 years. Over and above this the Management committee paid revenue tax for the land plot as it is still in the name of the school management committee.
He said that Tombisana High School is the third oldest High School of Manipur which was established with the donated money by a daughter of the Manipur’s Maharaja Tombisana in 1932 -33 . From aided school the school was converted into a full-fledged Government High School in 1977-78. The School was amalgamated with some other school and the then government had ordered for shifting of the school to somewhere at Thangmeiband.
In 2014, the then Congress Govt. had converted into a security barrack without the permission of the School Management Committee. It was later, found that many people have been killed inside the complex after skeleton of human are found inside the complex.
Ph. Ibochouba said that abolishing of a historic school and converting it into a market complex is tarnishing the historical evidence of the Manipur and people are against it.
He said that there are many school in the heart of the town such as Nirmalabas High School at Mg Avenue, Guru Nanak School at Thangal Bazar, Jain School at Paona Bazar, Johnstone Higher Secondary school at BT Road, Barodan High School at Thangal bazar. It is not reasonable to abolished the third High School of the state of Manipur and converting the area into a market place, he added.
The School Management Committee urged the government authority to revive the Tombisana High School in the interest of the state.
