A team of Kakching Police Commando unit led by Jem E Subhachandra arrested one suspected underground cadre while conducting a search operation in Arong Nongmaikhong area early today morning.
Police sources said that the UG cadre was arrested after the police team conducted a search operation in the area after getting credible information about the presence of some armed cadres belonging to rebel group.
The suspected UG cadre arrested has been identified as Salam Santa s/o Salam Singhajit of Nongmaikhong Mayai Leikai. On verification, he disclosed that he was a member of the banned rebel organization and was working under one Punshiba of the outfit. He revealed that he was tasked to extort money in Arong Nongmaikhong area of Kakching district, the police source said. The person has been handed over to Arong Police station for further investigation.
