During the question hour on the sixth Day of the 3rd Session of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly held today, Works Minister, K. Govindas Singh, while replying to the starred question raised by MLA, JanghemlungPanmei said that there is a plan of the State Government to upgrade the Historic Tongjei Maril (Old Cachar Road) to the status of National Highway. He further informed the house that the said road is among the seven (7) roads whose upgradation to NH status has been approved in principle.
On another starred question asked by MLA, Janghemlung, Works Minister laid the current status of the Asian Development Bank funded Imphal-Kangchup-Tamenglong Road to the house. The said project is under progress with physical progress of 78% and financial progress of 72.60% as on 31st January, 2023; the loan closing date of the project is scheduled on 30.06.2023, he asserted.
The PHED, Minister, Leishangthem Susindro while replying to the starred questions by MLA, Shri Ranjit Singh on the water requirement in Imphal area, informed the house that 133.52 MLD of waters are required by the inhabitants of Imphal areas daily and 85 MLD of water are sourced from Chingkhei hill through Maphou Dam. He continued that under the Jal Jeevan Mission, 75 percent households in the state received tap water following the JJM guidelines. L. Susindro expressed that Village Water Sanitation Committee plays a major role in successfully implementing water supply scheme in the state.
On the Calling Attention put up by MLA, Thangjam Arunkumar on the reported probable indefinite bandh on Imphal-Ukhrul road by the women street vendors of KhumanLampak area, Minister for MAHUD, Yumnam Khemchand Singh said that all stakeholders will be consulted for identifying alternate site for setting up permanent market sheds after the completion of this session.
On the Morning session, Leader of the House, NongthombamBiren Singh moved discussion and voting on Demands for Grants, 2023-2024 for Demand No. 11 – Medical, Health & Family Welfare Services, Demand No. 12 – Municipal, Administration, Housing and Urban Development, Demand No. 15 – Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Demand No. 17 – Agriculture, Demand No. 18 – Animal Husbandry and Veterinary including Dairy Farming, Demand No. 20 – Community and Rural Development and Demand No. 30 – Planning for consideration.
Until the filing of this PR, Motion for disapproval of policy cuts were raised by MLA, K. Ranjit Singh on the following Demands – Demand No. 11, 15, 18 and 20; gave observations for Demands No. 12 and 17.
