Sit in protest held against temple desecration

Imphal, Feb 4:

More than 100 locals gathered to organise a sit-in protest to condemn the desecration of more than three centuries old Krishna idol and temple at Brahmapur Guruaribam locality in Imphal East district. 
Unidentified miscreants on Friday midnight desecrated one of the oldest temple in the state protected by Manipur Ancient and Historical Monuments and Archeological Sites and Remains Act 1976.  
Founder G Ranjit Sharma of All Manipur Dharma Raksha Samiti said “it is high time for the authorities to root out the elements targetting a particular religion for the last few decades.”
The incident is the second in less than three months involving the desecration of an idol at a place of worship. 
Speaker and local MLA Th Satyabrata who visited the temple on Friday had assured of possible assistance.
