Picnicking, trekking at reserved forest areas banned

Picnicking, trekking, camping, expedition or gathering inside the reserved forest areas of the state has been banned by the Forest department of the state in connection with the increasing forest fire reported in the last couple of weeks.
An order passed by the Divisional Forest Officer R.K. Amarjit Singh, IFS, Central Reserved Forest Division said that activities such as camping, picnicking, trekking, expedition, gathering etc. inside Langol and Langol Extension Reserved Forest Heingang Reserved Forest, Chingkheiching Reserved Forest , Nongmaiching Reserved Forest, Khema Reserved Forest , Sambei Purum Reserved Forest, Khamenlok Gwaltabi Reserved Forest, Taingangpokpi Reserved Forest and Laiching Reserved Forest without permission are strictly prohibited under Section 26 of the Indian Forest Act, 1927. It further said that any individual found violating the order are punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months or with fine or both under the Indian Forest Act 1927.
