A team of state police today seized 272 grams of suspected Heroin powder hidden under the co-driver seat of a four-wheeler car while trying to smuggle towards Imphal along the Moreh Imphal route near the gate of Pallel Police Station. Two persons including a member of the KNLF currently under SoO were carrying the illicit drugs.
According to a police source, acting on specific inputs under the mission “War on Drug 2.0”, a team of State Police Commando posted under Kakching district Police station halted a suspiciously moving four-wheeler care bearing Registration No. AS02 Q 1649 from Moreh towards Imphal at around 6.30 am today near the Pallel Police Station.
“When searching the vehicle 22 (twenty-two) soap cases containing suspected Heroin No. 4 powder was found hidden at the floor of the co-driver seat of the vehicle”, a police source said. The source added that the suspected vehicle tried to escape when the police team stopped them but the well train state police commando managed to overpower it. Two persons including the one driving the car were detained in connection with the seizure of the illicit drugs.
The police team was headed by Sub. Ksh Prakash and assisted by HC L. Rohit and Hav N. Chaoba under the command of Inspector Md. Abash Khan, OC, CDO Unit, Kakching, under the supervision of Shri Binoy Chongtham, MPS Addl. SP (Ops) Kakching, and under the overall Supervision of Shrey Vats, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Kakching.
The two persons arrested have been identified as Paominlun (31) S/o Doukhothang of L. Bolkot village, BPO-Koite, Dist-Churachandpur and HL. Seikhongam Mate (21) S/o HL. Heikhokhai Mate of Tengnoupal Bazar, Tengnoupal –District.
Paominlun confessed that he is a cadre armed group KNLF which is under suspension of operation with the government.
