Supporters of BJP MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar, who replaced the Congress MLA Y. Suchandra after his election was declared null and void by the High Court of Manipur in November 2020, staged a protest against the entry of former Congress MLA and warns serious consequences if Y. Surchandra has been allotted BJP ticket to contest the upcoming state assembly election.
The BJP workers and supporters of MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar staged the protest against any attempt to nominate Y. Surchandra as BJP candidate from Kakching Assembly constituency today at different wards of Kakching Assembly constituency. Placards protesting granting of BJP ticket to Y. Surchandra were used by the protest at Polling No. 37/32, Sora Ching Mamang, Kakching ward No. 6, Polling No. 37/14, 15 Moirangthem leikai.
The protestors, who are supporters of BJP MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar alleged the former Congress MLA for his involvement in criminal cases.
A supporter told media persons that they cannot accept the entry of the Former Congress MLA Y. Surchandra who has been alleged of committing several crimes.
“We have been working with MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar as we trust the value base politics of the BJP”, a protestor said.
The protestor said that BJP party ticket should be given to MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar for contesting in the upcoming election.
Earlier too, supporters of MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar had staged a similar protest at Sora 37/31, Kakching Wairi Ward no. 1 and Polling Station 4 of Pallel.
Mention may be made that Y. Surchandra joined the BJP along with lone TMC MLA Robindro on Jan 20. Both were given a rousing welcome by the Central and state leaders of the BJP.
