The Zou Women Human Rights Organisation (ZOWHRO), Churachandpur expressed strong condemnation of the ruinous act of gang rape/sexual assault on a 12-year-old minor girl at Lamlanghupi Chothe, Bishnupur W/no 12, under Bishnupur District.
A statement said that the girl, a minor from a village bordering Churachandpur and Bisnupur district was captured using a Bolero around 4 pm on the 25th of November 2021. She was gang-raped and blinded folded. The girl was threatened that if the subject of rape was disclosed to anyone, she might as well face what her mother had gone through in the year 2016. The girl’s mother too died after she was gang-raped and is yet to get justice.
The Bisnupur Police, Childline Bishnupur & Churachandpur, Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Bishnupur rescued her on November 27, 2021 at the residence of Resongam Kom who too sexually assaulted her.
Viveshan Singh and Resongam Kom have been arrested and kept in judicial custody vide FIR No. 24(11) 2021 WPS-BPR U/S 365 IPC & 6 POSCO Act. However, the remaining rapists are still at large today. We demand justice as soon as possible not only for her but also for her late mother, who faced unnatural death after she was raped in 2016.
The ZOWHRO will not remain a silent spectator if the Government fails to take prompt and strict action against the perpetrators without delay, the statement warned.
