Cabinet Minister Biswajit today said that Arts and Culture are a vital component of our society to preserve and protect our identity.
Speaking during the closing function of the week-long workshop with seminar on the study of different art forms for 2021 -22 on Meitei traditional dance teaching schools and performing centre held at MTDTS & PC office Lalambung Makhong Takhellambam Leikai RIMS Road organized in connection with Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Minister Biswajit said that it is time that we learned the importance of preserving our traditional arts and culture.
The closing function was also attended by Dr K Sobita, Former Arts and culture Dr Elam Indira Padma Shri Awardee and retd senior Guru JN Dance Academy and L Radhakanta Registrar Manipur University of Culture attend as Guest of honor and president respectively.
Minister Biswajit further said that Manipur is known for its rich arts and culture and sports.
“I accept that we need to know more on arts and culture and sports and inherit it as it makes us proud across the Globe”, the Minister said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi called upon the people of Manipur to be Vocal for Local, and it is time that we use our own medium of communication to upgrade our culture, traditions and language. Minister Th Biswajit appealed to the cultural students to listen to the teaching of Guru.
“Manipur is famous in the field of culture and sports and the classical dance form Ras Leela. Sculpture painting music literature is considered as the Respiratory of a society collective memory in the society. Umang Lei harouba bridged the hill and valley.
The Minister further said that even as we have been calling upon the people to enhance and promote our culture and traditions , we still have many more to make it into reality.
“It is our weakness , I do agree but will not simply let it go the way it was as I am sure to make it move forward”, Biswajit assured. He said that many are skeptical on the reality of the Khamba Thoibi Dance, but than if one go into detail and look to our history as well as do some research on the findings that are being preserved in our museum that we will know that Khamba Thoibi dance do really exist. The Minister also talks about the aesthetic beauty of the various traditional and cultural events and instruments like Lai Haraoba, Pena and others as well as its significance to the enhancement of Manipuri Culture.
