Chief Minister graces 14th Foundation Day of Jnims; Flags off Walkathon under Eat Right Mela

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said that the State government has taken up various welfare initiatives which primarily focuses on the health and education sector for the well being and welfare of the people. This was stated by him at the 14th Foundation Day Celebration of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) held at its auditorium today.
Speaking as Chief Guest of the function N. Biren Singh said that under the recently introduced “Health for All” scheme, the doctors, nurses and health care workers are providing doorstep health checkups and medicine delivery to different sections of society of the State. He appreciated the doctors, nurses, ASHA workers and paramedics for their priceless contribution towards saving precious lives during the first and second wave of COVID-19 pandemic. He urged the medical professionals to maintain professionalism and ethics while serving the people.
N. Biren Singh stated that the State government is continuously persuading the Centre for the upgradation of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) into a level similar to that of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). He also mentioned that a Cancer hospital would be set up at JNIMS soon under the PPP model. At the same time, the government is urging the Health Ministry to increase the MBBS seats at JNIMS, he added.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister informed that Manipur won three awards at the State of States’ Award 2021. Manipur has been awarded Most Improved Small State Overall, Best Performing Small State in Governance and Best Improved Small State in Agriculture, he added. He said that the government could achieve such prestigious awards with the collective effort and support of the people of the State.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister also inaugurated PSA Oxygen Plant, CT-Scan machine at JNIMS and State Bank of India, JNIMS Branch. N. Biren Singh and other dignitaries handed over the meritorious awards to the toppers of JNIMS.
Advisor to Chief Minister (Health) Dr. Sapam Ranjan, Chairman LDA and MSPDCL L. Susindro Meitei, Addl. Chief Secretary (Health) V. Vumlunmang, Director JNIMS Dr. L. Deben Singh, teaching and non-teaching staff of JNIMS and students were present during the function.
Earlier this morning, the Chief Minister flagged off a walkathon under the Eat Right Mela 2021-2022, an awareness program to eat right and maintain good health at the Medical Directorate, Lamphel.
