ATSUM’s total shut down call fails to get support from people; no impact at many areas in hill district

The total shut down called by the All Tribal Students Union Manipur (ATSUM) in all hill areas of Manipur in connection with the demand for introduction of the new ADC Bill 2021 fails to get support from many hill based civil bodies in the state.
As per reports received there was no impact of the total shut down called at many hill districts including many parts of Tamenglong district, Churachandpur district, Tengnoupal district, and at many areas under the jurisdiction of Thdou Inpi-General headquarters and Thadou Students’ Associations.
Report received here said that live went normal at Tamenglong and Longpi area with all shops and business establishments open as usual. At Churachandpur massive turnout was witnessed during the Siamsinpawlpi joints fresher’s meet 2021 held today at YPA General Headquarter Hall, Churachandpur. Video footage sent by reporters showed business establishments open as usual at Tamenglong and Longmai area. While a massive turn out of general public was witnessed in a government organized function held today at Moreh today.
However, commercial vehicles stay off the National Highways and many passenger vehicles plying at both national Highways stay cancelled due to the ATSUM bandh. There are no report of any untoward incident happened during the total shut down called till the filing of this story.
Mentioned may be made that the ATSUM called complete shutdown in the entire hill districts of Manipur from 5 am to 5 pm on December 18 in connection with the demand for the introduction of Hill Areas Committee (HAC) recommended ADC Bill 2021 in the Manipur Legislative Assembly.
A statement released yesterday had stated that the total shut down call by the ATSUM was supported by Kuki Students Organisation general headquarter and the All Naga Students Association Manipur.
However, the Thadou Inpi – General Headquarters and the Joint Tribe Students’ Association (JTSA) had strongly opposed the total shut down called in view of the Christmas festival.
