Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President JP Nadda who arrived in Imphal today called Manipur the gateway of Independent India.
Speaking at the public meeting at SAI Complex at Utlou, JP Nadda said, “ The Gateway of Independent India begins from Manipur. This is the land where the Flag of Independent India was flown by the INA, Nadda said.
The BJP National President is on a two-day visit here in Manipur to discuss the party’s political strategy for the upcoming state assembly election which is likely to hold in February next year.
Nadda also spoke of the development being brought into the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He talks about women empowerment brought by the Modi-led government.
“It was the various scheme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi that women of the country particularly those in the rural area were lifted from the burden of household chores”, Nadda said. He was talking about the Ujwalla scheme where marginalized families in rural areas were benefitted from LPG gas.
In connection with Manipur, Nadda said that before the BJP led government came to power there were bandh and blockades almost every day. It was only after the BJP Government came to power that peace has been restored.
He also said that Manipur is becoming the new destination of Sports.
Chief Minister N. Biren while talking on the occasion thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government for giving the ILP system in the state – which was a prolonged demand of the people.
Earlier the National President of BJP JP Nadda was accorded a warm welcome by BJP leaders of Manipur, including Chief Minister N Biren Singh, BJP state president A Sharda, BJP Manipur in-charge Sambit Patra, National Executive Committee member Th. Biswajit among others. Various BJP supporters and well-wishers from different ethnic groups of Manipur also welcomed him at the exit gate of the Imphal airport.
Later after the meeting, Nadda will head will be holding a review meeting of the BJP with its ministers, MLAs, MPs, and other leaders at Hotel Classic Grande in Imphal in regards to the preparation of the upcoming Assembly election. He will be holding the night at the hotel.
On Sunday morning, JP Nadda will be visiting the Shree Shree Govindajee Temple to take the blessing and inaugurate the BJP Manipur head office at Nityapat Chuthek, Imphal West.
Later in the afternoon, Nadda will be interacting with achievers, prominent citizens, and celebrities of Manipur at the City Convention Centre in Imphal.
Nadda will be leaving Imphal from Imphal Airport on Sunday evening.
