Union WCD directs Manipur Chief Secretary to remove Binota from the Chairperson of MSCW

Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India directed the Chief Secretary, Government of Manipur to remove  Meinam Binota, Chairperson, Manipur State Commission for Women.
Youth’s Forum for the Protection of Human Rights (YFPHR) in a statement said that the people of Manipur that the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India have directed the Chief Secretary, Government of Manipur to conduct an inquiry to remove Meinam Binota from the post of Chairperson, Manipur State Commission for Women. 
Youth’s Forum for the Protection of Human Rights (YFPHR) further stated that on the 7th of July, 2021, YFPHR along with 12 organizations have submitted a complaint to the Ministry of Women and Child Development mentioning that the Governor and Chief  Minister of Manipur failed to take positive action to remove M Binota from the post of Chairperson, MSCW beside a written complaint was filed on the 3rd of December, 2019 and also its failure to enforce Section 4(3) of Manipur State Commission for Women, Act, 2006 which empowers the State Government to remove the Chairperson for its failure to discharge its duty. On 15th September 2021, responding to complaints the Ministry of Women and Child Development have communicated to the Chief Secretary, Government of Manipur, and also to the Member Secretary, National Commission for Women to examine the case against Meinam Binota and to take necessary action it added. 
It has been more than 21 days since the Ministry communicated with the Chief Secretary, no positive action could be seen taken up by the Chief Secretary, Government of Manipur.
The inaction by the Chief Secretary, Government of Manipur is an act to nurture the illegal activity being committed by Meinam Binota who misused the powers and functions of the Manipur State Commission for Women.
Youth’s Forum for the Protection of Human Rights (YFPHR) urged the Chief Secretary, Government of Manipur to remove Meinam Binota from the post of Chairperson, Manipur State Commission for Women as per the Section 4(3) of the Manipur State Commission for Women Act, 2006 in the best interest of the people and women societies.
