NYK Thoubal conduct cleanliness drive at District Hospital

To commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Father of the Nation, a Social Service (Clean India) cum Fit India Plog Run was organised at District Hospital Thoubal by District Health Society Thoubal and Nehru Yuva Kendra Thoubal in collaboration with NSS Waikhom Mani College Thoubal, NSS YK College Thoubal & NCC Khagabok Hr Sec School Thoubal on Gandhi Jayanti, the 2nd of October 2021, which is also celebrated as National Cleanliness Day.
A total of 150 Volunteers of NYKS, NSS & NCC, police personnel and Medical Staffs & Workers of Thoubal district took part in the Cleanliness Drive from 7:00 am till 9:30 am, after which the collected wastes especially Single Use Plastic Waste were collected by Thoubal Municipal Council for disposal. A total of 100 kgs of waste were collected at the site. A Clean India Swachhta Pledge was taken with the participants after the social service program.
This Day is observed to maintain high standards of sanitation at home, work and public places like roads, hosiptals etc. on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi who was a strong advocate for cleanliness & sanitation and its close relationship to fitness & health.
The Cleanliness Drive was attended by Dr Ch. Memcha Devi, Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Thoubal, Ch. Basanta Singh, District Programme Manager, National Health Mission Thoubal, Shri Michael T Mate, District Youth Officer, NYK Thoubal. P Robinson Singh, NSS PO, Asst Professor, Waikhom Mani Girls College Thoubal, L Sanahal Singh, NSS PO, Asst Professor, YK College Thoubal and Chaosana Singh, NCC Officer, Khangabok Higher Secondary School Thoubal.
As part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, under Clean India Program (1st Oct-31st Oct) of District Administration spearheaded by NYK Thoubal, daily cleanliness drives focussed on plastic waste will be organised by various departments, organisations & youth clubs of Thoubal & Kakching districts till the 31st of October 2021.
