Manipur Students’ Association Delhi (MSAD) also observed the 125th birth anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot at Sky View Hall, Minuthong Hatta.
Dr. Chinglen Maisnam, Associate Professor, Department of Economics, Manipur University and Dr. Arambam Noni, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, Dhanamanjuri University attended as resource person.
Prizes were also distributed to the winners of the essay competition organized in connection with day.
The Youth Wing formulated under the strict supervision of Oinam Romen Singh also observed the 125th birth anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot today at Singjamei Oinam Thingel, Imphal West District, Manipur.
In the observance, floral tributes were paid to the portrait of Hijam Irabot as a mark of respect. As part of the Observance, essential items were being distributed to the Yaibilen Destitute Children Home, Keibi Sanapat, Imphal East District, Manipur today by the volunteers of the Wing.
Paying floral tributes was led by Oinam Romen Singh. Paying homage to Lamyanba Irabot, Mr. Romen Singh said that Irabot was a renowned freedom fighter, a politician, a reformer and also a social activist. He made great sacrifices for the welfare and upliftment of the Society. Only paying homage to the selfless leader cannot give full significance of the Observance but to follow the path of the leader who did a lot for the welfare of the people of the State and abroad is a must. His work done for the upliftment of the farmers will also be remembered forever.
Romen further said that his work in the field of politics cannot be forgotten. It will be remembered forever. In view of the ensuing State General Assembly Elections 2022, the Observance is quite significant. It will surely make the people aware that money and muscle power cannot woo the voters as the voters are all intellectuals now-a-days. Some politicians try to woo the voters using such unfair activities. It is very unfortunate. He urged the voters not to trust such kind of politicians as they cannot serve the people in proper ways.
He said that politicians should not spend a lot of money in the time of Elections, only their honesty to serve the people can be shown to the public if they want to serve the people honestly. Only politicians who practise corrupt activities try to spend huge amounts to woo the voters. As the political activities in Singjamei Assembly Constituency get momentum, there is a right time for the voters of the Constituency to elect their leader having good quality, he urged.
Students Union of Kangleipak (SUK) also celebrated the birth anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot at head office. During the celebration Ningthoujam Dhanakumar Meitei, President SUK with District committee volunteers conduct social service and tree plantation.
At Jiribam, Jiribam Irabot Memorial Trust (JIMET), Jiribam observed 125th Birth Anniversary of Jana Neta Hijam Irabot at Irabot Complex, Babupara, Jiribam.
