Grand Loan Distribution Mela held under North East Economic Revival Plan

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh stated that the State Government would pay no heed to any obstruction, raised by self interest groups, while working for the welfare of its people. He made the statement while attending a Grand Loan Distribution Mela under North East Economic Revival Plan organised by the State Bank of India, Imphal Region at Chief Minister’s Secretariat today.
The Chief Minister further stated that the Government would continue its Go to Hills 2.0 in all districts of the State and take up developmental programmes to bring inclusive progress in all sectors. He added that the Government had been concentrating on import and export of certain consumables and had started taking up steps for import substitution to make the State self-reliant. Construction of certain check dams and tube-wells was in progress and once the construction got completed, farmers in the state would be able to practice double cropping thereby increasing their production, he added.
N. Biren informed that a combined team consisting of representatives of State Government and State Bank of India would be constituted to conduct a survey on various Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) operating in the State. The team would collect data and analyse on whether an MSME unit had already availed loan, needed financial support, or advised on what could be done for growth and expansion of the unit, he continued.  Regarding the loan distribution mela of State Bank of India, he informed that the target for the same was to provide loans to 10,000 beneficiaries incurring an amount of Rs. 22 crore for the financial year and out of the targeted beneficiaries, loan for around 450 had been sanctioned so far. 
 Stating that the Government aimed to provide services for better health of all people, he announced that a scheme for doorstep health testing service would be launched soon. Under the scheme, free health testing service would be made available to everyone and medicines would be provided free of cost to those with minor health problems under Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana. Apart from this, Ayushman Bharat and Chief Minister-gi Hakshelgi Tengbang cards would also be distributed to eligible beneficiaries if they had not availed the same, he added.
He appealed to the public to avail benefits of loan from the bank if the latter had any plan to carry out income generating activities. He also expressed his desire to improve the living conditions of every poor household of the State.
Addressing the gathering, Chief General Manager, State Bank of India (SBI), North East Circle R.S. Ramesh expressed that the SBI was privileged to enhance the credit flow of Manipur as a part of the North East Economic Revival Plan. He continued that 414 beneficiaries had been identified under PM Street Vendor’s Atmanirbhar Nidhi (PM-SVANidhi), Agriculture and MSME beneficiaries under MUDRA etc., with a total amount of RS. 11.34 crore. He added that such distribution of loans would help in employment and income generation in the State. 
During the function, 104 beneficiaries were provided loans with varying amounts of Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 5,00,000.
Education Minister Sorokhaibam Rajen, Agriculture Minister Oinam Lukhoi, Chief Secretary Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Commissioner (Vety & AH) H. Gyan Prakash, officials of SBI and beneficiaries attended the programme among others.
