Covid-19: Positivity rate down to 6.6% but not under control

Imphal, Sept 21:

Of the total three thousand and two (3,002) persons tested for Covid -19 today 197 persons have been detected with Covid-19 during the last 24 hours. With this the total number of people who tested positive with Covid-19 has reached 1,18,870. With 3 more death, the total death due to Covid-19 have also reached 1,835. The 3 persons who succumbed to Covid-19 are one (1) each from Imphal East, Kangpokpi and Ukhrul.
According to government report the number of positivity even though is slightly decrease , Covid-19 is not under control and government still need more effort to make sure that people are safe from the dreaded pandemic. Imphal East district still recorded the highest Covid-19 cases with 10.3 % detected as Covid-19 Positive. As per official record 1,014 people were tested among this 78 were found positive with the virus. There were no positive case detected at Noney, Pherzawl and Jiribam. But the number of people tested at Noney and Pherzwal was 6 only. 45 people were tested at Jiribam. Jiribam district has been announced as the first district in the state to have been recorded as the fully vaccinated district and even the Chief Minister had awarded the district administration. But even though almost all people in Jiribam district were reported vaccinated many are yet to be fully vaccinated.
Meanwhile, reports of the COWIN Portal showed that the Covishield Vaccination programme has been slow down in the last few days. Total number of people given first dose yesterday has been reported just 914 and the number of people who get jab with the 2nd dose yesterday was 6350. So far the total number of people who got 2nd dose of Covishield is 4,18,658 and the number of people who get the first dose is 12,15,215 as of September 20, 2021.
Another interesting feature is that with the coming of the Sputnik V, many have started vaccination of it. As per government record, 23 people from Imphal West district have jabbed the 1st dose Sputnik V.
