Imphal, Sept 20:

The Rongmei Naga Students’ Organization (RNSO), The Rongmei Naga Youth Organisation Manipur (RNYOM), and the Tamenglong Concerned People’s Forum, in separate press statements have stated that their organization fully endorse and abide by the decision taken by the ATSUM, ANSAM, KSO (GHQ), and other federation units on 6th September 2021 to boycott the Manipur Government program “Go to Hills 2.0” for not tabling “The Manipur (Hill Areas) Autonomous District Council Bill, 2021” recommended by the Hill Area Committee (HAC) in the recently assembly session.
A statement by the Tamenglong Concerned People’s Forum said that the enthusiasm of many Tamenglong based CSOs leaders to invite the Chief Minister to the district when other hill districts are initiating non-cooperation actions against the Government of Manipur, is conspicuous of taking unscrupulous advantage of the situation, to further their own personal interests.
“ The recent decision by the Joint Tribes Council of the Rongmei, Liangmai, Inpui and Zeme to invite the CM of Manipur, in connivance with the district administration has created a huge trust deficit between the CSOs and the public whom they claim to represent”, the statement said and added that the CM’s visit to Tamenglong has nothing to do with the ‘GO TO HILLS 2.0’, the very purpose of his visit to inaugurate incomplete developmental projects is contradictory to the tall talks of bringing development on par with other districts.
The Tamenglong Concerned People’s Forum said that it stands for the rights of the tribal communities. It said “the divisive politics played by many of our leaders should not veer us away from the greater and most genuine cause of our rights as tribal people. Thus, TCPF calls for a total shutdown of Tamenglong town and a peaceful protest against the visit of the CM on 22nd September, in solidarity with the other hill districts in our demand for tabling of the HAC Bill, 2021 in the State Assembly and the declaration of the move to induct MLAs from assembly constituencies belonging to non-scheduled area into HAC, as unconstitutional.
The Rongmei Naga Youth Organisation Manipur (RNYOM) in its statement said that they endorsed the decision of ATSUM to Boycott the Mission or Campaign ‘Go to Hills’.
“The failure to show out any sincere policy and program of the Ruling party and the government on the application of Article 371(c) of India constitution since the last 50 years of Manipur statehood have been the cause for the present socio-political turmoil”, it added.
The Rongmei Naga Youth Organisation Manipur has appealed to all the citizens of the hill people to oppose, and refrain from subscribing to the succumbing politics of the day.
