State Level Teachers’ Day observed; Govt aims to ensure easy access of Welfare Schemes and its benefits: CM

Honouring the selfless dedication of teachers towards shaping the youth and future of Manipur, the State Government today observed the State Level Teachers’ Day 2021 with a grand function held at City Convention Centre, Imphal. The function was organised by the Department of Education, Government of Manipur.
During the celebration, nine teachers from different schools were presented with the State Teachers’ Award, 2021. The Appreciation Award for Teachers of Education (U), SCERT & Education (S) was also presented to personalities from the teaching Community.
Chief Minister N. Biren Singh graced the celebration as Chief Guest while Education Minister Sorokhaibam Rajen shared the dais with the Chief Minister as President of the function. Works Minister Thongam Biswajit, Agriculture Minister Oinam Lukhoi, Chairman, Manipur Building & Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board Heikham Dingo, MLA, Kshetrigao Nahakpam Indrajit, Commissioner (Education) M. Harekrishna, Officials of Education Department and teachers from different schools also attended the programme among others.
Addressing the gathering, N. Biren Singh maintained that the Government, since its formation, had been working on all sides to ensure easy access to welfare programmes and benefits by its people. Stating that the Government had always functioned for the welfare of the people within the ambit of the Constitution of India, he stressed on the need of all communities to stand together and toil for taking the State to a new height of development.
Mentioning that education acquired from a teacher had a very important role in everyone’s achievement, the Chief Minister stated that Teachers’ Day is celebrated every year on this day to honour the dedicated contributions of teachers in making their students the future assets of a Nation. The yearly celebration also made the younger generation know the role of teachers and imbibed them with the culture of paying respect and honouring their mentors, he added.
N. Biren Singh, while appreciating the award winners for their selfless service in guiding the students of the State, expressed hopefulness that teachers would continue to render their services with much dedication. He informed that considering the high pass percentage of students in the High School Leaving Certificate Examination this year, the Government had approved up-gradation of 10 (ten) High Schools to Higher Secondary Schools to accommodate the increasing number of students. He also added that the Government is considering up-gradation of more high schools on a need basis.
Informing that coaching class for UPSC Civil Service Examination would be started soon at State Academy of Training wherein 200 students would undergo face to face training by best IAS mentors from Delhi, he added that arrangement would be made for VSAT classes at different locations to accommodate more students. He further announced that the Government is starting its Go to Hills 2.0 to ensure door to door delivery of services and benefits of various schemes to the people of hill areas.
Delivering his presidential speech, Education Minister Sorokhaibam Rajen said that Teachers’ Day is celebrated every year in all parts of the Country honouring the teachers’ role in shaping the society by guiding their students in the right path. While stating the necessity of teachers being honoured for their selfless dedication in their service, he appealed to the teaching community to continue their guidance in producing bright students.
He continued that the State Education Department had been putting in best efforts to provide education to students even during the hard times of COVID-19 pandemic through online classes. He applauded the services of the concerned officials for being able to declare the results of Class 10 and 10+2 examinations even though the examinations were cancelled due to the pandemic. Stating on the increased pass percentage of students, he appealed to students not to get worried for their admission as the Government had already started upgrading High Schools to Higher Secondary Schools for accommodating them.
He informed that under the 2nd Phase of School Fagathansi Mission of the Government, infrastructure facilities of 60 schools would be developed to provide better education to children.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister launched Chief Minister’s College Maheiroi e-Support Scheme (CMCMESS) (Edn-HTE). He also launched NIPUN Bharat Programme (SSA) in the State under Samagra Shiksha which aims to achieve the goal of proficiency in foundational literacy and numeracy for every child by the end of Grade 3.
The Chief Minister’s College Maheiroi e-Support Scheme (CMCMESS) aims to equip the meritorious college students of the State belonging to the lower income group with the required digital device to take part in the online education which is an important mode of education in the present time. Under the scheme, smart phones had been allocated to 2,000 students so far.
The teachers who were awarded with State Teachers’ Award, 2021 were Khullem Memtombi Devi of Ananda Singh Hr. Sec. Academy, Imphal East; Sh. Rullingson Rokho of Phuba High School, Senapati; Athokpam Ranjita Devi of Khangabok Hr. Sec. School, Thoubal; Huyam Priyobrata Singh of Sardar Patel High School Khurkhul, Imphal West; Lalsangliana of NKT High School, Churachandpur; Salam Manichou Singh of Pallel High School, Kakching; Ningthoujam Binoy of Chingmei Upper Primary School, Bishnupur; Lisam Jiteshwari of Ibotonsana Girls Hr. Sec. School, Imphal West and Sheiphani Roel Moyon of Liwachangning High School, Chandel.
Ningmareo Shimray, Lecturer, Ukhrul Higher Secondary School was also honoured during the programme for winning the National Teachers’ award 2021.
