AIMS urges Dr. RK Ranjan for reinforcing Act East Policy and Improvement of Educational Institutes in North East India

The Apunba Imagi Machasing (AIMS) lauds the Union government of India for the appointment of Dr. RK Ranjan as Minister of State in the Ministry of External Affairs; and Minister of State in the Ministry of Education. While appreciating Dr. Ranjan the student body submits a memorandum for Reinforcing Act East Policy and Improvement of Educational Institutions in North East India.
The memorandum stated that the Act East Policy is to promote economic, strategic, and cultural relations with the vast Asia-Pacific region at different levels. Memorandum signed by Dr. Atom Sunil Singh; Mawung Mingthing and Mayanglambam Khelendro respectively, Director, Secretary and President; Apunba Imagi Machasing (AIMS) has submitted for reinforcing the “Act East Policy” by opening formal border gates between Myanmar and India at New Tusom, Huishu, Konkan Thana, Namlee, Kambang Khullen, Nongkam Satang, Molcham, Bihang, etc. It will encourage developing trade and commerce and a closer relationship with the people having the same family across the border since time immemorable. It will strengthen the cultural relationship between the neighbouring country.
AIMS also urges to set up consulate general offices with cultural centers in North East India for East Asian countries such as Myanmar, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, China, etc., in order to strengthen the Act East Policy.
It will also facilitate the northeasterners to communicate with neighbouring countries. It is also further requested to establish a Southeast Asian University to tighten the transboundary relationships with Southeast Asian Countries and develop a New Central University in North East India to study East Asian countries’ language, culture, tradition, geopolitics, international relations, etc.
The memorandum also includes the improvement of educational institutes in North East India. Education is key to development, and it is the foundation to increasing economic efficiency and social consistency. It helps to raise the poor from poverty. The memorandum also urges the improvement of educational institutes and the conversion of Dhanamanjuri University into a Central University. It will solve the University’s hindrances and the appointment of a regular Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University among the most competent and senior-most professors within the professors from Manipur University. The appointment of a regular VC in Manipur University is essential to solving unwanted incidents in the future.
The students’ body also urged to construct quarters and hostels in the remote areas of Manipur for the teachers and staff and up-gradation of Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Regional Campus Manipur (IGNTU-RCM) into a full-fledged central university. The urgent need of the hour is to intervene by introducing Burmese language high schools in North East India to solve the barriers faced by the people in the border areas. Further, it is necessary to introduce the East Asian languages to the primary school curriculum in North East India, particularly Burmese, Korean, Thailand, Japanese, etc., before the train connects Myanmar.
AIMS also urged the commencement of cane and bamboo in the school curriculum in India. It also needs to establish the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) in North East India and urges to upgrade the IBSD Campus in Harorou Campus in the line of IITG, Guwahati. It is also necessary to open the biotechnology department in the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Manipur, Manipur Technical University (MTU), and in order to achieve the goal set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to double farmer’s income, it is necessary to develop Cane and Bamboo Education and Research Institute in North East India.
