3 persons arrested for spreading false information about Covid 19

Imphal, July 11:

Imphal west police team arrested 3 persons for spreading false information about Covid-19 pandemic that panic the people yesterday evening.
The three persons reportedly shared a video and remake it, later uploaded on social networking site facebook stating that 500 people were tested Covid-19 positive out of 700 people at Takyel Khongbal in Imphal west.
Report said that one Thaodem Romesh, about 34 years old, son of Th. Ibochou of Sekmai Laipat uploaded that remake video with false information on a Facebook page. He was picked up from his residence at around 7 pm yesterday as per a complaint lodged by the District Administration of Imphal West. The police later learned that the accused downloaded the video from another social networking application Whatsapp called PYDO (Progressive Youth Development Organisation). The video was uploaded by one Thaodam Bikram, 43 years, son of Thaodem Kula of Sekmai Laipat. The police team also learned that the video was prepared by one Sougrakpam Johnson Singh, about 34 years, son of S. Gambir Singh of Naoremthong Khumanthem Leikai Takyel Khongbal ward no. 2 by giving false data as commentary.
All three persons have been picked up in connection with a case registered at Lamphel Police Station based on a complaint lodged by DM Imphal West. SP Imphal west Dr S Ibomcha appealed to the general public not to spread false information about covid-19.
