Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) today digs the ruling BJP led government alleging its inability to contain the Covid-19 pandemic over failure to take up various programme to contain the virus as claimed by the government.
“If the state is doing well in taking up measures for containment of the Covid-19 Pandemic, why the Central government had to send 2 member team in the state along with six other states for taking up Covid-19 control and containment measures”, MLA Meghachandra said while adding that the interference of the central authority is a direct indication showing that the state government has failed in taking up measures to control the Covid-19 containment measures.
The MLA indirectly screwed the ruling government terming its announced measures for containment of the virus as mere propaganda.
“Had the government taken up measures they had already announced like enforcing of the lockdown measures and taking up simultaneously the vaccination drive as mentioned by them then why the number of Covid-19 positive cases in the state are on the rise, why are the people succumbing to the Covid-19 increases every day”, Meghachandra asked and said that the state government is not at all taking the issue of Covid-19 pandemic with extreme seriousness but for political purpose only.
MLA Th. Lokeshwar, while speaking to the media said that the recent visit of the 3 BJP National leaders and the speech given by the Chief Minister of Manipur N. Biren Singh as well as the President of the BJP clearly showed that the ruling party has no interest in the tackling of the Covid-19 Pandemic.
Referring to a news report that appeared at local dailies on July 3, MLA Lokeshwar further said that when the National General Secretary of the BJP (Organisation) BL Santosh, Spokesperson Dr. Sambit Pattra and BJP Leader Ajay Jawal came to Manipur on a three days visit, he was excited as he presumes that the BJP which is in power in both the state and the Country will take up some measures to make sure that the people of the state will be safe from the attack of the novel coronavirus.
“I was shocked to learn that these BJP leaders were not visiting the state to protect the people of the state from the Covid-19, they came for preparation of Election when the people are dying due to Covid-19 Pandemic”, MLA Lokshwar, who was the former speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly told media persons in a press conference organised through zoom application.
He said that it is the duty of all political parties, elected members, and all stakeholders to work together to protect the people from the Covid-19. When there are no people left there is no use in being a member of the Legislative Assembly as it is for the people that the politicians are being elected.
