National Doctors’ Day : PM to address doctors community at programme organised by IMA today

Doctor’s Day is celebrated in the country on July 1, 2021 every year to mark Birth & Death Anniversary of renowned physician Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy. This year, Doctors’ Day is very special on background of profound devotion showed by all doctors across country during the dreaded pandemic. This sacrifice for the mankind has added its shade of remembrance to the Doctors’ Day celebrations. Doctor’s Day 2021 is dedicated to the innumerable medical practitioners who sacrificed their lives while serving the citizens of our country & to those numerous eminent professionals who are still serving on the frontline during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In his ‘Mann ki Baat’ address last Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke about the contributions made by doctors and corona warriors during the Coronavirus pandemic. He said it is everyone’s duty to thank doctors with an equal measure of affection and encourage them.
Prime Minister Modi will address the doctors community at a programme organised by Indian Medical Association this afternoon.  In a tweet, the Prime Minister said India is proud of the efforts of all doctors in fighting COVID-19.
President Ram Nath Kovind and Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu have sent their greetings on National Doctors’ Day. The President in a tweet said that day should be celebrated as a tribute to dedication of doctors to treat the ill to the best of their ability. Mr Kovind said that in Covid-19 times, their service has gone beyond the call of duty. He said, the country is deeply indebted to these selfless angels who have risked their lives to save ours.
Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu has saluted all members of the medical fraternity for rendering selfless service and working round-the-clock to save others’ lives by risking their own. In a tweet, Mr Naidu said that the pandemic has put tremendous stress on country’s doctors and their families.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended his greetings to all the doctors on the occasion of Doctors’ Day. In a tweet, Mr Modi said that India’s strides in the world of medicine are commendable and have contributed to making our planet healthier. He also posted a video on his Twitter handle about National Doctors’ Day on which he had shared his thought in Mann Ki Baat programme last Sunday.
On the occasion of National Doctors’ Day, Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar has saluted the doctors and all other healthcare workers who fought against the pandemic and saved the nation.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister N Biren Singh also extend his greetings to all doctors in the State on the occasion of National Doctors’ Day 2021 which is celebrated under the theme “Save The Saviours”.
In his message, CM N Biren Singh said, “During the Covid-19 pandemic, this day holds a special significance considering the fact how our doctors and physicians work round the clock to help the State fight the health crisis. Doctors have been facing hard times during the pandemic, trapped in the uncomfortable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for hours every day, treating Covid and non-Covid patients and giving online consultation strengthening hope and faith. They forgot their own fears and pain while healing patients, putting their own lives at risk with selfless determination while also cutting themselves off from their families and loved ones for days together. During this long fight, our country has lost over 1,500 doctors to the pandemic.”
This year IMA is holding a specially organized Doctors’ Day program at its headquarters, New Delhi. Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi ji will address the entire medical fraternity in the IMA Doctors’ Day Program at 3 pm on July 1, 2021. Prime Minister has repeatedly reiterated the dedicated work by doctors & unparalleled importance of vaccination in the fight against the virus.
Dr. Ketan Desai, Past President of World Medical Association & Indian Medical Association, Dr. V. K. Paul, Member, NITI Aayog, Shri. Rajesh Bhushan, Health Secretary, Government of India, Dr. Randeep Guleria, Director, AIIMS, New Delhi & IMA National President Dr. J. A. Jayalal shall address the function.
IMA Headquarters has declared “Save The Saviours” as the theme of this year’s Doctors’ Day. IMA Headquarters has also declared Safe Motherhood Week from July 1, 2021 for next 7 days.
IMA Headquarters will pay respectful homage to its martyrs & also will felicitate its eminent doctors with Doctors’ Day Awards
Further, seven seniors doctors who have contributed much to the healthcare of the state are also being honored. The senior doctors to be honored are: Dr M. Angamla, Dr Sanasam Mema Devi, Dr. Th. Laxmikanta Sharma, Dr. N. Jitendra Singh, Dr. Th Sudhirchandra Singh, Dr. O. Ibomcha Singh, and Dr. Ak. Khamba Singh.
The observation of Doctor’s Day 2021 is being organized on online platform under the theme “Save the Saviours”. Prime Minister of India will also address to the Medical Fraternity of the country on the occasion of Doctor’s Day.
