Prof. A. Santa Singh, Director, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal released a poster- “Save a tooth” in front of the Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics, Dental College, RIMS, Imphal today i.e. 03/04/2021 in the presence of Dr. B. Praveen Reddy, Principal, Dental College, RIMS, Imphal. Faculty members and staff were also attended the poster releasing function.
Prof. A. Santa Singh, Director, RIMS, Imphal mentioned that Trauma can happen anytime, anywhere. Traumatic dental injuries are the fifth most common disease affecting almost a hundred billion people globally. The most common cause of dental trauma is sports-related injuries. So that, this program is an important for people as public awareness and to save our tooth is much. Everybody should care about teeth. Time is a crucial factor for the successful replantation of the tooth. Prompt and correct emergency treatment is necessary for attaining the best results. Most of the teeth can be saved with Correct diagnosis and timely intervention.
During the program, Dr. B. Praveen Reedy, Principal, Dental College, RIMS, Imphal also said that the International Association of Dental Traumatology has defined a set of guidelines to manage traumatized teeth and improve the chances of survival. If someone is with a knocked-out tooth, follow the steps: keep the patient calm, find the tooth, hold it by the crown, carefully rinse it under cold tap water, place the tooth back into its place, if not possible place the tooth in a cup of milk/saline, if none is available, place the tooth in the mouth between the cheeks and gums, rush to a Dentist within two hours of trauma.
