Depositors of Salai Holding stage protest, M.D of Salai Elangbam Brojendro and 2 others pick up by police

In a new development in connection with the issue of the Salai Holding Company, where thousands of people are crying for the return of their deposited money, Tera Bazar, here in Imphal was griped under tension after 1000s of depositors throng to the office today morning at around 9.30 am.
Report said that after N. Samarjit has been remanded in NIA custody for 14 days after producing to court the day before yesterday, a large number of depositors thronged to the office of the Salai Holding located at Tera Bazar. As the depositors were not allowed to meet the Managing Director, some of them later proceeded towards the resident of MD Elangbam Brojen located at Keishamthong Elangbam Leikai at around 11.30 am today. Around 100 of them came towards Sayang Road and then towards Khagempalli, where they were stopped by a team of police. As confrontations between the depositors and police took place the police team fires round of smoke bombs to disperse the mob. Later, the police using a loud speaker told the depositors to meet the MD at their office as he was available there.
Meanwhile, large numbers of police teams were seen deployed in and around the residence of Elangbam Brojen since afternoon today.
After the depositors return and gathered again at around noon confrontation again took place between the depositors due to differences in opinion among themselves. They were however kept under control and the Managing Director was forced to give a statement using a loudspeaker.
Brojendro said that the company is left with no choice but to stop all activities as the NIA has seized all the bank account and stopped functioning of all offices of the Salai. He said that he and his team was ready to hand over everything that belongs to Salai to the Public and for that, the government can auction the properties for the return of the depositors’ money.
Soon after his statement police team picked him up along with two other members of the Salai company.
It may be mentioned that besides Yamben Biren and Narengbam Samarjit Singh, the NIA filed the charge-sheet against their associates Narengbam Biswajit Singh, Elangbam Brojendro Singh and Akoijam Deepa Anand on March 23.
