The Zeliangrong Civil Organizations (ZCOs) in commemoration of the “87th Zeliangrong Solidarity Day” was organized and observed today at Khundi village, Imphal West District, Manipur. The Zeliangrong Solidarity in the form of “Pledge/Covenant” was performed by Mr. Tadangbe Newme who hailed from Magulong village under Tousem Sub-Division of Tamenglong District, Lunglinbou Newmai from Chakha village under Tadubi Sub-Division of Senapati District and KaithangaGangmei from Keishamthong under Imphal West District on 1st April, 1934 at Tamenglong District HQ, Manipur.
The programme was attended by Leaders of Zeliangrong Civil Organizations of Zeliangrong Baudi, Zeliangrong Youth Front and Zeliangrong Students’ Union, senior elders, village Chairmen and leaders of women’s societies wherein Mr. Titus Kamei, Vice-President, Zeliangrong Baudi (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland) Poupoklung Kamei, President, Zeliangrong Baudi, Manipur, AthuanAbonmai, Advisor and Former President, Zeliangrong Baudi (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland), Akham Gonmei, Former President, All Zeliangrong Students’ Union, AshinpouGangmei, Chairman, Zeliangrong Student’s Union, Manipur, DisuangPamei, Former Vice-President, Zeliangrong Baudi (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland) Mr. Khangkiang Pamei, Vice-President, ZeliangrongBaudi (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland), Chairman and Khullakpa of Khundi village spoke on the occasion.
The speakers dwelt on the importance of Zeliangrong solidarity and unity especially at the present situation and urged the gathering to spread the message of unity and integrity in order to secure better future for Zeliangrong people. Promoting the fragmentation of Zeliangrong people based on the basis of Govt. tribes recognition will be detrimental to the future prospect of Zeliangrong people as it is evident that the minority people has no importance in the democratic system where majority voice always decides and rules in all matters.
