The home department of the Government of Manipur has ordered a Magisterial enquiry into the death of (L) Sanaton Athokpam, son of Tekendra Athokpam of Khurai Thangjam Leikai Imphal East, an MBBS student pursuing 5th Semester who was found dead hanging inside his hostel room on March 15. A JAC formed in the connection has been demanding justice for the deceased terming the dead as mysterious.
The inquiry commission has been ordered to find out the facts and circumstances leading to the death and also to identify the person (s) responsible, if any, for the death.
The Magisterial enquiry will be conducted at the office of the Additional District Magistrate, Imphal West District Room No. G-21, Imphal West DC office complex.
Persons desirous to give oral evidence or produce any material/documents for the enquiry officer in connection with the issue can submit their particulars in writing.
Meanwhile, Justice for Sanaton Athokpam a committee formed for demanding justice for the victim continue to stage protest at Khurai area by shouting slogans for speedy action to find the culprits involved for the cause of the death.
The committee demanded to hand over all CCTV footage of Hostel No. 3 and also the call records of the cell phone use by the deceased.
