Chief Minister N. Biren Singh takes oath as President of the Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has taken oath as the President of the Lainingthou Sanamahi temple board (LSTB) at Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple located at Haying Khongbal located inside the 1st MR Complex and soon after the oath taking ceremony the Chief Minister also attended the 1st meeting of the LSTB meeting.
As soon as the Chief Minister arrived at Haying Khongbal, Priest and traditional healers received him with ritual flavour with pena performance accompanied by ritual chants by the performers. Unlike before the Chief Minister entered the Temple from the Eastern gate – marking a symbolic opening of the Eastern gate – (Nongpok Thong Hangba) . The followers of the Sanamahi have also been told to enter from the eastern gate from today onwards.
MLA L. Rameshwar Meetei has also took oath as the vice president of the LSTB.
The first Board meeting after CM Biren took oath as the President was also attended by the cultural head of the state who is also the Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba.
The meeting begins with a prayer to the Lainingthou and by observing a 2 minutes silence as a mark of respect to those departed member of the LSTB.
Various resolutions were taken during the meeting. Among those includes the increase of yearly budget estimate for the LSTB, extension of the present complex. The meeting also resolved to create a separate entry to the Temple as the southern road is still an entry of the security force. The meeting also resolved to renovate the temple so that it can be open for tourist also.
Speaking on the occasion President of the LSTB, N Biren Singh , who is also the Chief Minister assures pension for the traditional healers and pena performers as well as the scholars of the board and the priest who are over 60 years of age. He also said that without promoting our traditional religions and culture we cannot move forward.
It may be mention that Chief Minister N. Biren Singh is the first President of the LSTB after former Chief Minister of Manipur (Late) Yangmaso Saiza established the board and handed over to the followers of Sanamahi.
