National Girl Child Day Observation at Senapati

The Free Style Open Group Dance Competition concluded today while observing the National Girl Child Day 2021 at Multipurpose Hall, Senapati under the theme “Awake and Acknowledge Girls” which was jointly organised by the District Administration and ICDS Cell, Senapati.
In today’s event, Th. Kirankumar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Senapati stated that everyone must encourages the girls child to various activities she likes. He also stated also stated that Senapati district is one of the places where women empowerment can be clearly seen. Celebrating all across the state and country, he applauded everyone for their presence on this auspicious day National Girl Child Day. Despite the embedded society of preferring boy child over girl child, he said that education is the only way to tackle. He said that by having proper education, various form of ignorance will be liberated. If a girl child is saved during her upbringing, then the whole society can be saved later, he added. He therefore appealed people present in today’s event to look forward positively and take up more activities. He also appealed them to take more precaution on COVID- 19 because education system is resuming soon in which women and girls were asked to take the leads.
Miranda Zimik, District Programme Officer, ICDS Cell, Senapati while addressing his speech stated that National Girl Child Day is celebrated every year on this day which was started by the Ministry of Child and Women Development, Government of India in the year 2008 with the main objective of raising awareness on the issue of declining Child Sex Ratio (CSR). She said that various programmes such as Speech competition, Drawing competition, Choreography competition, Women volleyball competition and singing competition had been taken up. She mentioned that the Senapati district has got the National Award for effective engagement of community and National Recognition for innovative Approach in the implementation of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao programme.
In today’s event, 24 teams participated in the Free Style Open Group Dance Competition in which A Star from Kavanam stood in the first position followed by Black Flickers Maram Khullen Khullakpa Sagai in the second and Little Star from Rikhumai Taphou in the third. The programme was attended DLO’s, churches leader and various society leaders.
