A team of Imphal West CDO led by OC P. Achouba today arrested G.Birchandra Sharma @ Molecule Sharma, who have been absconding after murdering his nephew over land dispute on Nov. 21 morning. He was arrested at around 8:30 am today from Thangmeiband area. Report said that the police team arrested him while he was walking near KFC outlet at Thangmeiband.
The accused Molecule (71-year old) allegedly murdered his nephew with his double barrel gun.
The double barrel gun used in the crime has also been recovered by the police team.
The deceased Gurumayum Suraj (35 yrs) is the son of Gope and was working as a JTO with BSNL.
Molecule after shooting his nephew fled in his van. The deceased suffered bullet wounds in his hand and chest and was taken to Raj Medicity at North AOC but succumbed to his injuries.
Sources stated that following some differences over demarcation of land property Molecule had made previous attempts on the life of his nephew by trying to run him over with a vehicle and again by shooting at him on a separate occasion.
