Mumbai. Nov 9:

An Ethiopian Airlines freighter flight( ET690) which left Riyadh and was on its way to  Bengaluru was diverted to Mumbai, due to mid-air hydraulic leakage and landed safely at the Mumbai International Airport, on Sunday.

In a statement, the spokesperson of the Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) confirmed that an Ethiopian airline from Riyadh to Bengaluru’ Kempegowda International Airport was diverted to Mumbai. This was done due to hydraulic leakage and the aircraft landed safely in Mumbai, the statement added.

Three fire engines, one rescue van and other essential vehicles were deployed at the Mumbai airport. These provisions were made to ensure a safe emergency landing of an aircraft with some technical glitch, the Mumbai Fire Department added.

The flight had eight crew members and there were no casualties as the Mumbai Airport declared a full emergency with the airport and the Mumbai Fire Brigade kept ambulances with medical teams stand by, as per the protocol and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

The aircraft is currently parked at the airport where technical and engineering teams are examining it even as the emergency was withdrawn and normal operations resumed in the afternoon, the sources said.
