MYFA urges punishment of Moreh rapist under POCSO Act

The Manipuri Youths’ Front of Assam expressed shocked over the incident of teenage boy raping a 3 years old minor girl at Moreh.
A press statement issued by the President of MYFA S Herajit while thanking , police, doctors, Child Welfare Committee members, CSOs for extending all possible help to safe the child demands immediate action against the rapists under the POCSO Act.
“The rapist has to be arrested and fair trial should be initiated and punish the rapist according to the POCSO Act, if found guilty”, a statement said.
Now FIR has been lodged and medical reports are believed to be available. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the Government of Manipur to arrest the rapist immediately under the juvenile procedure, if the rapist is also a child below 18 years it said.
MYFA further said that no compromised should be made to protect the rapist.
MYFA also urged the Cyber Crime Unit of Manipur police to investigate the people who are releasing threatening messages in the social media and arrest them immediately.
The Manipuri Youths’ Front of Assam received the information that the villagers including the members of village customary law had lunch or dinner by killing a pig as a part of settling the case which is subject to be confirmed. If it is true, then the entire people who were involved in the lunch or dinner should also be arrested for trial. The MYFA also urged the Manipur High Court to take up Suo Moto case to deliver justice to the 3 years old minor girl.
