The Chief of Suangdoh, Pu Paukhenkhup Guite today handed over a sum of Rs.40,000/- to Pu Pawan Yadav IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Churachandpur for further submission to the CM Covid-19 Relief Fund.
According to Mr. Guite, while the financial contribution of the hill people to the nation is meagre, the Government of India has over the years developed the hill areas, especially remote villages along the Indo-Myanmar border in many spheres. In terms of connectivity, the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) recently completed rehabilitation of Guite Road (NH-102B) in high quality and standard. The Government of Manipur further introduced Manipur State Transport (MST) bus service on this road and won the hearts of the people and restored their faith in the Government.
At a time when the whole world is crippled by the on-going pandemic, covid-19 and villagers are unable to tend to their fields thereby resulting in shortage of daily essential commodities, the villagers received free ration of rice and other materials. This is a clear testament of the commitment and care of Pu Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister and Pu N. Biren Singh, Hon’ble Chief Minister to the hill people of Manipur, he said.
A public meeting was held on the 10th of April, 2020 at Hausa Innpi, Suangdoh in which the villagers had unanimously decided to contribute 1 day wage of MGNREGS to the CM Covid-19 Relief Fund. Various individuals and social organisations within the village also contributed. Stating it to be their humble contribution to the Government, the Chief today handed over the sum of Rs.40,000/- to the Deputy Commissioner, Churachandpur for further submission to the CM Covid-19 Relief Fund.
It may be noted here that Suangdoh is a Sub-Divisional Headquarter located about 65kms south of Churachandpur district headquarters and 8kms from the Indo-Myanmar border.
