TOM TV distributors demands refund of their deposited money along with interest

Fifty-two cable service distributors of the TOM TV which is run by the Lamjingba Group of Companies today demanded the refund of the money they had deposited to the firm along with interest and also the subscription fees that they had collected from the subscribers.
Talking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today morning, one Khangembam Amarjit, who identified himself as the Secretary f the All Manipur TOM Cable Distributor Welfare Association said that as the Lamjingba Group of Company fails to provide service to the subscribers as promised by them, the distributors are now facing a hard time getting scolding from the costumers. When a complaint was raised about this matter, some staff of the Lamjingba group even threatened, he said.
“On June 29, 2019, Chairman of the Lamjingba Group announced to provide cable service of TOM TV across the state and to start providing the service by September 25, 2019, during a meeting at Hotel Classic Grande”, Amarjit said and added that technical team from the ZEE TV were surveying to make the dream come true.
Following the announcement, 3 distributors from each assembly constituency have been allowed to deposit a sum of rupees One Lakh each along with another Rs. 10,000/- as fine. The total distributors depositing the amount is 80, he added and said that following that the distributors collected a sum of rupees 6100 from the subscribers.
As Tom TV fails to provide service to their subscribers the distributors are being blamed and even threatened to return the money that they collected for connection.
“We have tried to meet the Chairman of Lamjingba Group many times to discuss over the matter but we were never allowed to meet him, so we submitted a letter in connection to our grievances to Chairman but was not accepted”, Amarjit said.
Having no other choice TOM Cable distributor Welfare Association conducted a meeting with the press and expressed the grievances that the distributors were facing.
Later during a function of the Lamjingba Group, the chairman announced that the service will be handed over to the people in January 2020.
“February already begins now and we see no action for converting what they have promised to us”, Amarjit said and demanded to return the money that they deposited along with interest and also the money collected from the subscribers.
