A day after the passing of the Citizenship (Amendment ) Bill 2019 at Lok Sabha, protest against the Bill turn hostile in Guwahati with large number of people coming on the streets shouting slogans defying curfew imposed by district administration.
Situation in Guwahati as well as in other parts of Assam remain tense as the protestor pen anti-CAB slogan with their own bloods . At Dibrugarh protestor were charged with lathi and gun shots were heard firing by the security force to disperse the protestors. Lady protestors were even not left by male police while hitting them with lathi.
As the situation is completely out of hand the Army conducts flag march in Guwahati city.
Guwahati, the epicentre of anti-CAB protests, was placed under indefinite curfew on Wednesday night while the Army was called in at four places and Assam Rifles personnel were deployed in Tripura on Wednesday as the two northeastern States plunged into chaos over the hugely emotive Bill.
All Assam Student’s Union has called for a protest at 11 a.m. in Guwahati.
Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti appealed to the people to come out on the road for a peaceful protest. People were on the roads in the night despite curfew.
The Army conducted a flag march in the city on Thursday morning. Vehicles were stranded in various cities of Assam due to heavy blockade. Half-a dozen vehicles were burnt. The houses of the BJP and the AGP leaders were attacked in various parts of the State. Many flights and trains were cancelled taking in view of the situation.
