Forest Dept. begins drive to rescue illegally held captive rare wild animals

Authorities of the Forest department today began drive to rescue wild birds and animals which has been held captive in the pretext of establishing mini zoo at various gardens, Hospitals and private residences which falls under the jurisdiction of Thoubal Forest Division.

8 tortoises were found in the premises of Jeevan Hospital Kakching during the drive conducted by a team of the Thoubal Forest Division led by Md.Sallaoddin of Kakching beat office. The team however left the tortoises as it is after summoning the authority of the hospital to take over the matter with the DFO.
