Assam Rifle inaugurates vocational training centre and distributes solar power systems

In yet another initiative by Assam Rifles, a new Vocational Training Centre at Hiyanglam was inaugurated on 16 November 2019. The Chief Guest for the event was Major General KP Singh, YSM, IGAR(S) and other dignitaries including Brig Neelesh Bhanot, SM, Commander 28 Sector Assam Rifles. This new centre is an augmentation of success of Vocational Training Centre at Sugnu and will impart training to women on stitching, handloom weaving and embroidery. The skill development initiative is part of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY), for recognition and standardisation of skills.  
To mark the successful handloom training undergone by 250 women at Vocational Training Centre Sugnu, certificates were distributed to sixty beneficiaries. Kakching Sector was able to get accreditation to the Vocational Training Centre with provisional certification from National Skill Development Centre. These acquired skills will equip the beneficiaries to showcase their talent to the best of their abilities.  
As part of Infrastructure Development and with an aim to provide electricity to far flung villages, Sehlon battalion under the aegis of Kakching Sector took initiative and carried out liaison with Luminous Company in Delhi. Following the success of first phase, in the second phase, 60 solar power systems were distributed to six villages namely Phoilen, Gammon, Moljol, Gelmol, Sejang, and S Bongjoi on 16 November at Hiyanglam. This initiative of Assam Rifles will bring the underdeveloped regions of Chandel District at par with the rest of the state which in turn will provide the coming generations a better standard of living and propel them to a path of self-determination in times to come. Infrastructure development and Capacity Building leading to Avenues of employment are the Focal Areas for Development for the Assam Rifles.
The ceremony summed up with Major General KP Singh, YSM conveying his message to the gathering that “Together, we will progress further into the realms of eternal bond of camaraderie tomorrow’.       
On the other hand, Moreh Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) also organised a lecture on precautionary and preventive measures against Malaria and Dengue at village H Mongjang in Chandel District on 16th November 2019.
The Nursing assistant from Moreh Battalion delivered an interactive lecture on Malaria precautionary and preventive measures at village H Mongjang. A total of 70 villagers including children’s benefited from the lecture and shared their views as well. Nursing Assistant shared the awareness on various methods of preventing Malaria at very initial stage.   
The Battalion has always made an endeavour to spread awareness on lifestyle as well as seasonal diseases by organising lectures at various locations. The villagers pledged to take all precautionary measures against Malaria / Dengue and help spreading the awareness among other neighbouring villages also. The village Chief and villagers expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Moreh Battalion for such initiatives and requested for more events in future. The event culminated with distribution of refreshments and group photograph.
