Children’s Day and Foundation Day of NYK Observed at Thoubal

District Administration, Thoubal in collaboration with DPO, ICDS Cell and NYK, Thoubal organised Children’s Day & Foundation Day of Nehru Yuva Kendra, Sangathan at the Counting Hall of DC Office Complex, Thoubal yesterday.

Thoubal Zilla Parishad Adhyaksha Hasina Begum, Thoubal district Deputy Commissioner Smt. N. Bandana and ADC, Thoubal L. Radhakanta and Addl. SP, Thoubal Deshorjit graced the observance as the Chief Guest, the Functional President and the Guests of Honour respectively.

While addressing the gathering Smt. N. Bandana told that the district administration is trying to submit the data for child sex ratio in Thoubal district to Women and Child Development Ministry quarterly. Under Beta-Beti/Abungo-Abemma Board, with ASHA, Anganwadi workers and others are taking the record of how many boys and girls were delivered in their respective areas in a month and by compiling reports of three-four months, district administration will send it to Secretary Women and Child Development Ministry.  Because, in comparison with 2001 census, the child sex ratio in Thoubal district declined in 2011 census and even in the tentative data of 2011 to 2021 shows declination in the same, informed by the Secretary.  The Ministry’s information is based on institutional delivery. She also appealed to all concerned to work hand in hand and try to show that there’s improved in child sex ratio in the district. 

ADC, Thoubal L.Radhakanta who graced the function as Guest of honour told that he is worried on school children’s busy schedules in management for tuitions and school timing and no time for playing or games and sports. He expressed to encourage students for more co-curricular activities.

Various items presented on the occasion included felicitation of outstanding sportswomen of Thoubal district, distribution of sports items to clubs & schools by NYK, Thoubal, distribution of Abungo/Abemma Board to frontline workers (ASHA/Anganwadi) of the district, Manipuri Zumba dance by Children Home for Girls, Thoubal Wangmataba and Manipuri group song by Open Shelter Home for Girls, Wangbal, Thoubal.

Rameshwor Singh of Wangjing, (Retd. Head Master and National Teachers Awardee, Govt of India) spoke on NYK Foundation Day and Children’s Day while Elangbam Amuthoi Khanganba, AC to DC delivered the Keynote address.

The observance was attended by a large number of people including children, parents, NYK volunteers etc.
