No official agreement signed; HM assured to sign such final settlement only after consulting stakeholders – N. Biren Singh

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh today appealed the people of the state to stay calm assuring that no final settlement between the NSCN-IM and the Government of India will be brought without consulting the government of Manipur, Assam and Nagaland.

“ Media reports at some newspapers and web portal which said that the issue about a separate flag and about Greater Nagaland formation are all fabricated and speculations”, N. Biren Singh who is presently camping with delegates of all political party members uploaded at his face book page at around 7 pm today.

“No official agreement has been made in the so call final agreement reportedly signed between the representative of the Government of India and the NSCN-IM and this has been assured to me by Union Home Minister Amit Shah”, Biren said. He added that he had been directed to talk to media regarding that and said that the Home Minister had assured him that no final settlement will be inked without consulting the government of Manipur, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh and other stakeholders.

“Union Home Minister Amit Shah has contacted me and advice me to conduct press conference to announce that no official agreement has been signed as of now and if an agreement has be made it will only be done after consultation with the government s of the Neighbouring states of Nagaland”, the Chief Minister assured.

Meanwhile, Convenor of the COCOMI Sunil Karam said that has been spearheading alert protest across the state has extended the cease work until 6 pm tomorrow. Talking to media persons Sunil Karam said that as there are development reported at newsportal that may affect the state of Manipur, people need to stay alert.

A clarification on the Naga settlement issue

It has come to notice of the Government that lots of rumours and misinformation is being spread in media including social media that final Naga settlement has been arrived at and will be announced soon. This is creating anxiety and concern in some parts of the country.

It is clarified that before any settlement is arrived at with Naga groups, all stakeholders including States of Assam, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh will be duly consulted and their concerns will be taken into consideration.

No credence needs to be given to such rumours and incorrect information.

NSCN (IM) and govt of India has signed the Framework Agreement today and it became an accord. Will be declared soon probably by December at Hornbill Festival at Nagaland by PM. Manipur govt aware of it.
