New Delhi, Oct 30

With time ticking fast, hectic parleys continued for the third consecutive day to find a lasting solution to the decades old insurgency problem in Nagaland with the Centre’s interlocutor and Governor R N Ravi holding separate talks with the NSCN (IM) and a conglomerate of seven organisations, NNPG, officials said.

The first session of meeting between the Government of India and the NSCN-IM has ended today as reported by Northeast Live Web Desk. The report said that both the parties will be sitting for the second session of the meet later today. The meeting comes after the round of talks ended on an inconclusive note on Tuesday.

Today’s meeting is the third meet between both the sides in a span of three days. Both sides are looking to come at a consensus on the key issues of a separate flag and constitution before tomorrow’s deadline.

As per sources, a 15-member delegation of the NSCN-IM led by its General Secretary Th Muivah is conducting the talks with Nagaland Governor and central interlocutor RN Ravi. Both the NSCN-IM and the Government of India have so far refused to budge from their respective stands on the separate flag and constitution issue.

The dialogues were convened in Delhi in a bid to iron out differences, particularly on the NSCN (IM)’s demands for a separate flag and Constitution for the Nagas that have already been rejected by the Centre.

NNPG ready to sign final pact

On the other hand, the meeting between the Working Committee, Naga National Political Groups (NNPG) and Interlocutor, RN Ravi Tuesday morning in New Delhi ended positively with the NNPG willing to sign the final pact.

Since all issues on the NNPG’s part have been resolved, they are willing to sign the final pact any day, sources said.
