Bangladesh Manipuri wants Manipuri Language in Primary schools

Department of Primary & Mass Education, Govt. of Bangladesh had assured to introduce Manipur Language text book from Pre Primary to Class III from the academic session of 2021. In this connection, Bangladesh Primary Teacher’s Association wants the Government of Manipur to officially communicate with the Bangladesh government for improvement of Manipuri Language.

The General Secretary of the Bangladesh Manipuri Primary Teachers Association, Ningthoujam Shanta said this while talking to a delegate of Indo-Bangla Friendship Tour, which left Imphal on September 23 for Bangladesh. The team delegate was led by Rakesh Naorem, Managing Director, IPAK Tours & Travel Agency, Manipur.

“In class IV, there was a curriculum called ‘Bangladesh & Global Studies’. In that there was a chapter for Manipuri Language. However, the Manipuri Language has been replaced by Bishnupriya Language since 2013″, Shanta said and said that the Manipuri in Bangladesh will opposed the claimed of the Bishnupriya Language as Manipuri Language.
