State GDP growth reaches 8%; an increase of half from 2016-17- CM

Amid criticism from sections of people regarding the financial crisis in the state of Manipur, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh today said that the financial condition of the state increases half time than that of the 2016-17 when the BJP led government came to power.

“GSTP of Manipur in 2016-17 was 3.77% , that was when the BJP led government replaced the Congress government. In 2017-18, we managed to increase the GSTP and this time, i.e., 2018-19 the GSTP reaches 8%”, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said while felicitating 5 (five)  councillors of Yairipok Municipal Council at the temporary head office of BJP Manipur Pradesh at Canchipur today.

The five Councillors are Longjam Kamala Devi (ward no. 9), Konjengbam Ito Singh (ward no.8), Guruaribam Ingocha Sharma (ward no. 7) , Md. Abdul Khalique (Ward No. 6) and Md. Dilip (Ward No 5) . They were elected as congress councillor but joined the BJP today. With the joining of the 5 Councillors, BJP now is the majority in the Yairipok Municipal Council as there are only 4 Councillors left in the Congress side.  

Vice President of BJP Manipur Pradesh, Salam Joy, General Secretary  Seityabrata, Dy. Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly Robindro and Ex-minister  Nimaichand Luwang , who is also a senior member of the BJP joined the Chief Minister as dignitaries on the dais while felicitating the Councillors.

Chief Minister N. Biren singh said that it is the peoples’ trust to the party that it enables to send MP to Lok Sabha in the Lok Sabha election this time. The development that the BJP led government in the state brought in just 2 years and three months that people started trusting the government.

“In this short span the state revenue which was just 497 crores at the time we come to power now cross over 1000 crores”, a proud N. Biren Singh said.

He said that it is the support from the people and the government’s success in maintaining the law and order situation that make possible in the rise of the GSTP as well as the state revenue. 

“As peace has been restored in the state and bandh and blockades are history we are going forward”, N Biren Singh said.

Appreciating the quality of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his integrity and commitment for the people of the country, N. Biren Singh said that it is the Prime Minister Modi that inspires him.

“We may not have constructed big building but we are doing everything for the people and the recognition is also a clear example”, Biren added.
